Life is Dandi
Awe struck, I marvel
at your overwhelming beauty
the sun beats down on your delicate frame as you soak in every last ray
leaving none fall to waste
when the wind begins to shift and the clouds begin to break
your roots extend deeper as you embrace for the impact of much needed rain
down pour
your eyes shift to the sky
exposed
vulnerable
drenched
in heavens generous supply of LOVE, JOY, and PEACE
poured out by the Holy Spirit
the nourishment needed to survive
you absurd every last drop, even after the storm stops
Sunshine and rain provide for the ground in which you grow
summer, winter, fall and spring
every season refines you for the next thing
good or bad
pleasure or pain
failure
fears
desire
dreams
laughter and tears
inevitable yet equally rich and essential in the evolving cycle in which your beauty expands and blooms
As i admire you grow and thrive
I am inspired to fully embrace the season i now abide
let the wind sweep me off my feet as i inhale the air of change that encompasses me

Awe struck, I marvel

at your overwhelming beauty

the sun beats down on your delicate frame as you soak in every last ray

leaving none fall to waste

when the wind begins to shift and the clouds begin to break

your roots extend deeper as you embrace for the impact of much needed rain

down pour

your eyes shift to the sky

exposed

vulnerable

drenched

in heavens generous supply of LOVE, JOY, and PEACE

poured out by the Holy Spirit

the nourishment needed to survive

you absurd every last drop, even after the storm stops

Sunshine and rain provide for the ground in which you grow

summer, winter, fall and spring

every season refines you for the next thing

good or bad

pleasure or pain

failure

fears

desire

dreams

laughter and tears

inevitable yet equally rich and essential in the evolving cycle in which your beauty expands and blooms

As i admire you grow and thrive

I am inspired to fully embrace the season i now abide

Passive to Proactive

stepping up to stepping out

stretching beyond your self imposed limits to cross into the lives of those outside the comfort of home

There is a need

open your eyes to see

expose the lies behind the blinds

the battle for hearts going on in every nation

What will be your stance?

will you reach out to hold a brother or sisters hand?

Let love shine through

the power renews and heals as it penetrates the broken and takes back what the enemy steals

Let your walls fall

as your world quakes

let the shackles break as you become unbound

from the sin and mire that is sinking ground

know that the Lord is near to the broken hearted he comforts those in need

He never abandons his children He’s the one true consistency

we are His hands and feet

a call that will never be taken away with gifts that will forever stay

What will you do to take action?

Impact

Change

each ones response different yet valuable just the same

what is a life lived in vain?

flesh dies.

things pass away

only the Spirit remains

Love penetrates the dark

let it shine

Worlds apart or right next door

be silent no more

break through the comfort of complacency

Be Radical.

Be Real.

Live with truth and love

let your life point to the one above

Life is not about what we make it to be

a fulfilled life dies to self so only the heart can be seen

What does your life say?

challenge yourself.

what are you trying to avoid or ignore?

look it in the eyes

don’t live under the lies of the enemy any more

Let your life speak louder then your words

only then can you truly be heard

Porcelain Escape

Lying in the bath lined with Lavender LUSH bubbles

shifting shapes skim the surface

discretely covering the flesh form underneath

the pastel purple tones filled with calming aromas

break into steam through the foamy barrier-

inhaled with each breath she takes

serene

she closes her eyes

the heat creates a thin glisten of moisture across her face

with a blink- a drop drips down

stinging her lips with a salty taste

she takes another deep breath

this time submerging her core further into the basin compassing her

standing solitary in the corner of the room

the claw-foot tub bubbles over with the water her movement begins to displace

she shifts again

leans her neck over the edge as her arms abate for the end of the day

lost in her porcelain escape

To Love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it careful round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless- it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable…the only place outside heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers…of love is hell.

The Great Lake Explore
Lake Michigan
You stole my heart
it sank in the the depths of your grander
I stare into the hues of your rich
deep
blue
ever changing
BURSTS
of vibrant splashes
shifts to shore
breaks of foaming waves
void of color yet rich in comparison
the adventure that stirs inside
as I panorama your surface with my eyes
I see change in planes
and dunes with sand piled high
each grain- prefect in its place
mingling with the rocks, stones, and grass
blurred as a back drop to this landscape
The pebbles beneath my feet
and the sand between my toes
ground me in the reality of this beautiful existence far bigger then anything my mind could
wrap a thought around
Listening to the sound
nothing is a distraction
rather an addition to the experience of what makes this lake so great
Once a glacier weathered by change
quenching the land
carving its own shape
Its Highs and Lows
Depths and Expansions of space
connect and intertwine with bodies of water that parallel its beauty
Astounding the separation and unity that can simotaniously be attained
when currents flow with one purpose
and one outlet
in which to go
All this to say-
I’m okay if thats where my heart stays
a treasure
waiting to be discovered by the one who ventures to search and pursue
who will recognize the value
retrieve and restore
this delicate heart thats worth

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with JOY and PEACE because you TRUST in HIM. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the HOLY SPIRIT
Romans 15:13
She Takes another sip of her tea
headphones in place as she disappears into the music
watching the world in motion outside the boundaries of her space
she gets lost in the stories she creates
The nameless faces she encounters
couples interacting
holding hands and leaning into each others embrace
Parents with children running…tugging….
not wanting to stay in place.
She takes another sip of her tea
wondering the disposition she displays to those observing her.
an outsider.
what story does her presence tell?
what picture does she paint with the expression on her face?
Theres a world of assumptions an onlooker can make
She looks around
Present
Only to those that invite themselves into her reality
She takes another sip of her tea
while waiting for the train
she impatiently drums her crossed leg up and down
anxious for the time to head home to arrive
wondering the destination and journey of her momentary surrounding companions
She initiates eye contact
in an attempt to start conversation…
efforts failed.
perhaps the exhaust from the day has blanketed her eyes
leaving them uninviting
She takes another sip of her tea
Last drop
She throws it away.
Stands in line.
Until the platform invites her to head forward to her final destination
The last leg of transit to deliver her home

Surrender

Written June, 15 2011 after a night of Worship

I surrender

my heart cries and pleas

I surrender

broken on my knees

I surrender

lay my insecurities and pride on the floor

I surrender

fists bruised

knuckles bleeding

from knocking at a closed door

I’ve reached the point where i wonder what else is in store

when i think i’ve given up all

I need to surrender more

This work you’re doing in me

Is beyond what i can see

beyond my past and present

It stretches through eternity

I surrender

my need to know

my hearts desire to see where to go

I surrender

my disappointment and fears

and hold tight to your spirit that is always near

I surrender

my desire to be held and touched

to be embraced in love by my husband that i long for so much

My impatience gets the best of me

as I’m reminded your call for me to wait upon thee

I surrender

each moment in each day

when my mind wanders and my heart is to weak to pray

I surrender

my time that i’ve taken captive and was never meant to be called mine

I give you all of me

not just now

but forever

continually

Knees on the floor

Head in my hands

I surrender Lord

sweetly broken in your loving hands

The Beginning

8/7/2011

It’s a Sunday afternoon, I’m sitting on my couch, listening to Balmorhea, sipping a fresh cup of french press coffee, editing photos and now welcoming myself into the world of blogging. When I was an intern with HM Magazine I had an intern diary that I kept up with on a daily basis. It was a great outlet of self expression that I am now revisiting. This blog is my new beginning of sharing my life, heart, and mind with those who desire to welcome themselves in. I can’t promise that it will always be gripping and full of adventure, but I can guarantee that is will always be a raw expression of who i am through reflections, stories, poetry, and photography. Hope it inspires, moves, or entertains those who choose to follow along and enjoy the journey with me. Thanks for reading!
